A Higher Ground - Quarterly eNews

Vol. I, No. 2                 July 2009

From the President

Dear Camp Family,

Summer is here in Florida! The weather is great, and we have had some rain which makes the grass very green. God has a way of using dry earth, to make a living picture.

Luanne and I have started our summer ministry schedule. Please pray for us as we speak, so we know God's perfect plan for each session. Our time in Phoenix was very rewarding, and we are home safely.

We would also ask you to continue praying for our future. Although we have a possibility of a ministry, we know nothing for sure, and want to hear God's voice in all this. During these days of uncertainty for us, we have experienced His perfect peace in the middle of life-storms. Pray that we do not miss a single word from our Father.

Dave and Dolores, Gary and Rosa, and Dick and Colleen, continue doing wonderful work for the Kingdom. Every time I see any one of them, I see encouraging smiles as they go about their work. The camp looks first class, and Luanne and I praise God for these people who make our work at APC possible.

Have a great summer in Jesus, and we hope we might be able to see some of you during our travels.

Grace and Peace,
-- El and Luanne

Sharing Corner

Dear Friends at Avon Park Camp,

We are so thankful for your friendship. Your words of comfort, hugs, and special thoughts and prayers, helped get us through the shock of losing our wonderful little grandson.

Thank you to all who watched out for our granddaughter Natalie, great granddaughter Ava, and Jim's sister Susie Hill who stayed in the Shiltz building while we were in Indiana for the funeral. Please continue to pray for our son Bud Rike, and his family.

We will keep you all in our prayers. We hope you all have a blessed summer. Until we meet again God Bless you.

-- Jim & Barb Rike

Just a short note of Thanks to all for the cards and your presence at Dorothy Thomas Hutton memorial service. Dorothy touched many lives and the church was filled with friends. Your love and prayers are appreciated by her husband of fifty-eight years and her children Marjorie, Judy and Rick.

Thank all of you!

Happy Summer!

Thank you for your prayers during this first quarter of HMA here in the States. I know there were many days where your prayers carried me during all the traveling I did. I am getting ready to go on the road again.

Thank you for being partners in the work that God is doing in Argentina.

Love,
-- Ligia

From the Camp Treasurer

Greetings from Indiana!

Thank you for your faithful support of the camp through Continuing Shares and other donations. So far this year we are able to keep ahead of our bills. You are truly a blessing!

In these economic times it is difficult to know how to invest your money. If you would like a secure investment and a great quarterly return, I would be happy to give you a proposal from our Gift Annuity Program.

Just before we left Florida, we approved the sale of the fifth house during this camp season! That is great! We still have two available. Contact Dave Coller at the office if you would like more information.

Around the Campground

Work is always available. Contact the office if you will be in the area and would like to help!

Three new park models are completed. They really make the corner of Morrison and Kingdom Way look wonderful!

John 11:17-43

33.    When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.

Lazarus was sick and dying, so Mary and Martha, believing in Jesus' healing power, sent for Him. Jesus delayed His visit and Lazarus died.

"You didn't come when we sent for you. You could have healed Lazarus if you came last week. Now he's dead!" --Martha had given up.

"What kind of guy can keep my brother from dying and doesn't show up?" --Mary put Jesus to the test and He proved who He was.
