From Our President

Greetings in the strong name of Jesus,

It is with great joy that we welcome Dale and Glenna Dorothy to the Avon park camp staff. The Dorothys served with World Gospel Mission for 42 years. They served as missionaries to Haiti for 16 years. During the time in Haiti Dale served as field director while Glenna served as field treasurer, hostess and in women's ministries.

In 1983 the Dorothys came to the home office where Dale served in field ministries, vice president of public ministries, interim president and executive vice president. Glenna served in the finance department and assisted in developing a field computer accounting system. After retiring in 2009 the Dorothys continued to serve as volunteer missionary pastors to Mexico, Honduras and the American Indian Field. Currently, they reside in Marion, IN.

Dale will serve as our director of buildings and grounds and Glenna will provide some assistance to the Hudson's in accounting.

Having worked side by side with the Dorothys for 22 years I hold them in high regard. They live Christ-centered lives that reflect the beauty of holiness. They love people and will be a great blessing to the Avon Park community.

Currently, they plan to live in Avon Park from October thru March. Please remember them in prayer and welcome them into the Avon Park Camp family.

Grace & Peace,

-- Thomas H. Hermiz

From Our Treasurer

Thank you to all of you who responded to the mailing with prayer and financial support. Your faithfulness helps us greatly through the summer months. The 1110 Emmanuel Way house is nearly ready. It has been fully remodeled with a new kitchen and accessible bathroom. Thank you again for your support in this project and in the ongoing maintenance of our grounds.

We welcome Dale and Glenna Dorothy, our new Director of Building and Grounds, and you will want to greet them personally when you arrive. They have settled in at 1206 Anoka.

Thanking God for you,

-- Robert Hudson, Treasurer

The Strange Preacher's Kid

9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in full knowledge and all discernment, 10 So that you may approve by testing the things which differ and are more excellent, that you may be pure and without offense unto the day of Christ, 11 Being filled with the fruit of righteousness, which is through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. -- Philippians 1:9-11 NET

You'll probably not believe this, but most people who are turned off to Christianity are not turned off by the Gospel message, but by the messengers, people in the church!

We are heard and we are watched. Outsiders see the disputes among Christians, sometimes in a particular church, other times among denominations. They see judging, hating of "everybody-who-isn't-like-us", and leaders falling into moral disgrace. They do not want to be like us.

We are called to holiness, to be different from the world. Part of that life is loving our Christian brothers and sisters, wishing God's best for them. Nobody is "above" the other, as none of us has done anything; Jesus redeemed us and the Holy Spirit has worked the change in us.
