APRIL 2019

From Our President

Greetings in the strong name of Jesus,

I am pleased to report that crosswalks will soon be installed on Lake Isis Road, The city of Avon Park has committed to getting this done for us by June. Many thanks to Tom McCann for working this through with the city engineers.

This has been a really good year for us with an outstanding camp meeting, numerous property improvements and a number of new people attending the camp and Friday night services.

My greatest concern at this time is to reach the place where we can payoff all of our personal loans. We took a strong step in that direction with the sale of the Emmanuel House. Please pray that the Lord will send us a good neighbor to purchase the acre and a half on Rt. 27.

The next six months are the most difficult time of the year for us when it comes to cash flow. Here is a couple of ways you can really help us to meet our weekly financial obligations.

    1. Consider sending a financial gift on a monthly basis. Some have been doing this and it is very helpful.
    2. Send a one time gift during this challenging time of the year.

Please make this a matter of prayer. If the Lord enables you to make a contribution send it to the camp office. 1001 W. Lake Isis Road, Avon Park, FL 33825.

I want to thank you for the generous way have supported the camp. We will look forward to hearing from during these summer months.

Grace and Peace,
--Dr. Thomas H. Hermiz

From our Treasurer

Greetings from the Treasurer's Office,

Thank you for a wonderful camp season where you allowed the Lord to use you to bless the camp in many ways, including financial. With Memorial Gifts over $24,000 we can pay one half the Multi-Peril Insurance bill for 2019 and pray for funds to come in for the matching September payment of $27,000.

The first quarter of 2019 we were able to pay off $101,325.00 of the $604,865.00 the camp owes individual lenders. The Emmanuel House has been sold and all those funds have been deposited in an Investment Account to draw interest until the balance of the loans, $503,540.00, come due during the year of 2020.

We are trusting the Lord to help us clear these debts and are so thankful for all the means He uses, namely, you. May He bless you and the camp during these summer months.

-- Bonnie Hudson, Treasurer

Rev Don & Susan Frey continue to pastor Dayton Heights Community Church in Flint, MI. Dayton Heights is a Missionary Church. They had a good year with attendance up 45%. Giving is up, and people are excited about their future. The last Week in April they have Rev. Mark Murphy coming for Revival and Spiritual Renewal. This is the first Revival the church has had in years. Pray with them as they are asking God to touch, fill, reveal sin, and encourage the saints. They hope and plan to be at Avon Park Camp next January and February.

Ruth (Shupp) Beadle went to her eternal home, heaven, on April 1. She had looked forward to this for quite a while. A small memorial service will be held on May 5th.

Here are details of her life: Obituary and written remembrances or condolences are easily left at the Memorial page (the family will see these). This would be the family preference instead of cards. -- Mark

With the blessing of the Neihof family, Wesley Biblical Seminary is pleased to announce the John E. Neihof, Jr. Scholarship Fund. During Dr. Neihof’s presidency, the seminary expanded into new programs and established new scholarship funds to make seminary education more affordable to students in the United States and around the world.

Dr. Neihof left a strong legacy of generosity and friendship at Wesley Biblical Seminary. His life was given in obedience to Jesus, and WBS is a better institution because of this.

Dr. Neihof’s life was given to the cause of Christ, especially through Christian education. He dedicated his life to discipleship through educating the next generation of Christian leaders. We are forever thankful for his sacrificial leadership at Wesley Biblical Seminary.

If you would like to be a part Dr. Neihof's vision for making theological education accessible to all whom God has called, please give a gift to the John E. Neihof, Jr. Scholarship Fund.

APHC 2019 annual Anniversary Dinner honored eight couples who are celebrating their 50th, 55th, 60th, 65th or 70th year together.

For the first time in recent history the Camp President and the Board of Trustees met with Camp Members to discuss pertinent information and proposed changes.

The Strange Preacher's Kid

“What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked.
They all answered, “Crucify him!”
“Why? What crime has he committed?” asked Pilate.
But they shouted all the louder, “Crucify him!”
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!”
All the people answered, “His blood is on us and on our children!” -- Matthew 27:22-25

Yes, Jesus' blood was on the people and their children. It was their guilt, their sin.

Yet because of that, Jesus' blood is now also on all those who believe in a much greater way...His forgiving, life-giving, cleansing blood.
