JULY 2019

From Our President

Greetings in the strong name of Jesus,

WE NEED YOUR HELP! These summer months are very difficult, financially, for the Avon Park Holiness Camp Meeting and community.

The normal income from rental fees and contributions declines rapidly during the summer months when many are not here, but MOST of our normal operational expenses continue.

This summer, it has been necessary to draw from our investments on multiple occasions to meet our financial obligations. Our reserves are in decline. We are doing what we can to cut our expenses, but bills must be paid.

If possible, we need each of you reading this to make a contribution that will enable us to meet our financial needs. A gift of $50, $100, $500 or even more would go a long way to get us through these summer months.

Please send your contribution to Bonnie Hudson, Treasurer, 1001 W Lake Isis Avenue, Avo Park FL 33825.

I am thanking you now for your generosity and prayers. May the Lord abundantly bless you this very day.

Grace and Peace,
--Thomas H. Hermiz

From our Treasurer

Greetings from the Treasurer's Office,

Trust your summer is providing some rest and relaxation and opportunity for growing in the Lord. These are quiet months here on the camp ground except in the office where the bills are paid. The regular bills keep rolling in and even some unexpected ones as well. It takes, at least, $10,000.00 per month for regular bills, expenses for the operation of the camp to continue even if our people scatter.

Our average monthly income, for April, May and June, has been $4,258.00, which includes contributions and interest earned on investments. So it’s easy to see we have had a monthly shortfall of $5,742.00 which has necessitated the cashing in of some investments.

Assured you love and enjoy the camp we knew you would want to know the need. Please continue to pray and give and we will trust the Lord to bless each of you and the camp.

Staying by the stuff,
-- Bonnie Hudson, Treasurer

From our Ladies' Auxiliary

We are looking forward to another great year, beginning with our luncheon and meeting on January 30th. We look forward also to the Craft and Yard Sale on February 28th and 29th, and our "Chat With...." on March 5th.

Please continue to remember the camp and our auxiliary as well as all of our members in your prayers.

-- Ann Fisher, President

The Strange Preacher's Kid

I read Ephesians 5:18-20, "18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

That is what I wanted, to be filled, to be filled with song. I prayed, "Fill me, Lord, Fill me. I want more of you." But nothing happened.

My friends were singing, laughing, drinking. They were happy. Yes, they were under the influence of alcohol, but they seemed to have what I wanted. God seemed to promise He would fill me so I could sing and laugh. I cried again, "Fill me, Lord, Fill me. I want more of you. I want the joy to speak with psalms, to sing, to laugh." And I cried again.

In my despair I seemed to hear God say, "I am trying to fill you, but your cup is already full," and I thought of how I was being influenced by jealousy, greed, trying to be good--better than the next guy. Yes I was full of my own efforts.

So I prayed, "Father, I empty myself of all my worldly emotions and desires. I want you. I want more of you." Then came the peace, the joy he had promised. He filled me with His spirit and He is in control.
