From Our Missionaries

It is hard to believe that it has been over three years since our wonderful experience at Avon Park in 2008. We feel our time at the camp was the turning point in our furlough that the Lord just met our needs spiritually and emotionally those 10 days and sent us away for our final two months ready to return to Mozambique. We had been pretty burned out from 4½ years in Mozambique without a break and found that although we knew we would return to Mozambique as that is our calling, we just weren’t ready yet. Avon Park Camp Meeting changed that and has carried us these past three years.

God has been doing amazing things in our lives and ministries. It is encouraging to know that so many new friends we made at Avon Park are now praying for us and some supporting us. Just a few weeks ago you met our colleagues, Dave and Ann Dedrick, and although I tried to share with them what it meant to us before they came, I got such an amazing email from them afterwards. There is just something special about Avon Park Camp Meeting. Amen!

We want to share what the Lord is doing in Mozambique and how He is equipping Mozambicans to reach their own people for Christ.

We just finished two short videos. One tells briefly about the seminary and its first year of running. See it here

The second video is a walk-a-bout tour of the new mission compound we just purchased. We are now remodeling to move our school, Christian Academy in Mozambique, there by August. See it here

We also now have a blog and our prayer warriors can keep up with what has been going on in our lives. Visit us here

Our new appointment to Ecuador and Colombia with OMS is official. Greg concluded his role as Director of Regional Ministries at the end of February in order to concentrate fully on fund raising for our move to Quito in July, by God's grace.

Greg is the church multiplication facilitator for Ecuador and Colombia with One Mission Society's evangelistic church-planting ministry. As such he will be a coach to four evangelism coordinators ensuring they use effective, culturally appropriate, reproducible strategies to multiply disciples, leaders and churches.

Please pray God provides for our move so the children can begin the school year in Quito, Ecuador on August 22nd.

We are all right here in Japan. Even though the earthquake was centered several hundred miles north of Tokyo, we felt it quite strongly and have some damage at the house.

Holly Muehleisen was at language school in downtown Tokyo when it hit. The trains all over the city quit running, but she was able to walk and find her way home. It took her over two hours.

We feel the Lord is really taking care of us and are so thankful for all your prayers.

Prayer Opportunities

Please pray for Jean Alexander, Mary Allen, Denise Bayler, Gary & Viola Case, Flornell (Flossie) Coller, Roy Dettwiler, Forrest and Marian Wells, Len and Joanne Gamber, Lois Hetmansperger, Eldred & Luanne Kelley, Michael and Angela Kelley, Coty Kelner, Elizabeth Korzinski, Jane Kunze, Marion Lewton, John and Blanche Louthain, Glenna Shook, Doris Smith, Jean Tucker, and Alwilda Warner.

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

The Strange Preacher's Kid

Have the recent earthquakes and devastation caused you to focus more on the end times?

Much of my life I have been eager for Christ to come again, but with the signs of the times pointing to His coming soon, my focus has changed. I have begun singing a new song, yet an old song:

"Wait a little longer, please Jesus!
...Just a few more days
to get our loved ones in."

Camp Reports

A note to thank each of you who helped in the dining room & kitchen for camp meeting. It was a joy for us to work as a team with you to serve those who were attending Camp Meeting.

We look forward to serving again next year and hope it will work out for you to be there and serve with us. Have a blessed spring and summer with family and friends. Remember God is good all the time! We are grateful to be part of His Family with each of you.

The Tuesday morning Bible Studies concluded for the year on Tuesday, March 29. There were large numbers in attendance each week for the studies led by Rev. Ray Bachman on the theme, "A More Sure Word of Prophecy." Pastor Ray has been invited to teach again next winter and sessions will begin on Jan. 3, 2012.

Ray has begun a new blog and you may keep up with his postings by going to this site: LookingUp24Seven.blogspot.com. Copies of his books can also be ordered there.

Stay in touch throughout the year! Be on the lookout for an Avon Park Camp Reunion / Gathering near you!

We look forward to seeing each other at the Snowbird Reunion in Ohio, the Michigan Reunion, the West Virginia Picnic, and Avon Park Camp Day at Beulah Holiness Camp in Eldorado, IL. If you have not been a part of at least one of these gatherings in the past, this is the year you'll want to BE THERE!

Reminder for coordinators: Send your dates and times for your area event to editor at avonparkcamp.org to be included in the July announcements. Deadline for submissions is June 28.
