From the President

Dear Camp family,

Around here we are beginning to sing, "It's beginning to look a lot like camp time." The grounds are beautiful, the Tabernacle is ready, and many are already at prayer for another great camp meeting. God has been faithful in the past, and He desires to "do it again".

I am convinced that His plan for His children is much greater than we realize. Therefore, I am asking Him for a new vision of that plan. "No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him." -- I Corinthians 2:9

On Sunday, September 19, we hosted the Avon Park City-Wide Day of Prayer. It was a tremendous blessing to share our facilities with others in the city. But, it was even more of a blessing to pray with brothers and sisters we rarely see. Thank God for what He is doing in this area.

As you make your plans for this fall season, don't forget your camp. If you can help financially, it will be greatly appreciated. Summer is a time when our expenses continue, but our revenue drops off. Please ask The Father how you can help.

Luanne and I send our love, and look forward to your return. It's going to be a great year of worship!

In the sweet name of Jesus,

-- El and Luanne Kelley

From Our Missionaries

While we are raising our support for missions, I need to get a job to help with the finances. Because I have not been able to get a job, I started my computer business back up. Would you please pray for my new computer business? I want to follow God’s will for what He wants me to do to help raise our support. Thank you for praying.

In Christ,

-- Michael Kelley

Prayer Opportunities

Please pray for Cape Town 2010: Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization, October 16-25. Camp member Richard Adkins will be attending.

Please pray for Verva Adam, Marco & Phebe Bartolomeo, Gary & Viola Case, Flornell (Flossie) Coller, Darlene Frick, Joanne Gamber, Duane and Lois Hetmansperger, Vern and Bevan Howard, Anna Kelley, Eldred & Luanne Kelley, Michael & Angela Kelley, Elizabeth Korzinski, Jane Kunze, Marion Lewton, Ebby Rhodes, Glenna Shook, and Dawn Batterbee Miller's son Dave.

Please pray for two special needs at the camp:

Dick and Colleen, our custodial people, have made the decision to return to Ohio to be closer to family. Also God is opening new doors for our camp secretary and this will be her last year in that position. We will greatly miss them!

Please pray for people to fill these positions. Please pray that God will speak to His choice people about these needs.

Sharing Corner

On July 27, Beulah Holiness Camp Meeting in Eldorado, Illinois, welcomed 25 Avon Park Camp members for the 2nd Annual Avon Park Camp Day. We shared a wonderful time of fellowship. Members were present from Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey and Florida.

On Saturday, August 28, ninety Avon Park Camp members shared dinner and fellowship at Troyer's Dutch Heritage Restaurant in Bellville, Ohio.

Dave Coller reported on Camp Happenings, Bob Hudson gave the treasurer's report, Rev. Bob James gave the devotion, and we were even treated to a call from President Kelley!

Thanks to Pauline Butler, and Georgene Bethel and her daughter, who helped with the planning and decorating. Thanks, Addie Tackett, for the picture! We look forward to next year!

Hello to one and all,

I am not likely to get back to Avon Park again. In my situation, such a trip and stay would be very complicated.

I cherish the friendships Esther and I have experienced in Avon Park during the last twenty or so years, and I regret that I may not see many of you again until we meet in Glory.

I would be glad to hear from you, if you would care to send me a personal message (roydett@gmail.com).

Yours in Jesus!

-- Roy Dettwiler

Some of our year-round residents challenge you to discover who comes from the north for the winter via a Fork Lift.

Clue: the person is already in Avon Park and is somebody we just couldn't do without.

1 John 1:2

The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

Romans 7:23b

...the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Strange Preacher's Kid

The Question: "It is so awesome that John saw and touched Jesus! Can we have that experience too?"

The Answer: It was when John saw Jesus after the resurrection that he really knew who Jesus was: "the gift of God is eternal life" - this life IS Christ Jesus.

As God, Christ, in the Holy Spirit flow from eternity, through me, through you and all members of Christ's body, we actually have what John touched. When we are in Him and He in us, we have all we need!

This kind of life I can live forever!

-- PAB

Lee Crist Ordained

The Free Methodist Church of North America ordained Rev. Lee Crist an elder on April 23 in Orlando, Florida at an Overflow Conference that involved all the Annual Conferences of the Eastern Area of the Church. All three bishops of the FMC conducted the service.

This was Lee's first ordination as an elder in a denomination, although he has served nearly four decades in Christian ministry. He has held credentials in the Indiana North Conference of the United Methodist Church and has had a long affiliation with World Gospel Mission.

Congratulations, Rev. Crist and Paula! God bless you both.

Hello from Michigan

Our time at home has flown by! We've had a busy and good summer and are looking forward to the beautiful fall colors. After Christmas we will be anxious to head to Avon Park to see everyone there.

We hope that all who volunteered in the dining room and kitchen last year will be able to help again. We look forward to serving with you. If you haven't helped in the past but would be able to this year, we would love to have you join our team. There is a place for each one of you.

We are at Lot #65 in the campground. Please come and see us.
